    Beauregard Joins 1,000 Point Club in Season Ending Loss The Seward County Saints gave it a valiant run, but came up short 76-62 against the Barton Cougars in the first round of the Region VI Tournament, ending Seward’s season at 9-22. In the loss, Charles Beauregard joined elite company, becoming one of just 13 players in school history to reach the 1,000 point mark, tying Shelby Walton for 12th place with 1,001 career points at night’s end.

    Saints Knock Off Rival Busters in Regular Season Finale For all intents and purposes, the Seward County Saints didn’t have anything to play for Monday night at home as they took on the rival Garden City Broncbusters. The only thing was, someone forgot to tell them that. Seward came out with arguably their most passionate effort of the season, outlasting the Busters 77-68 on sophomore night in the Greenhouse to head to the Region VI Tournament on a high note.

    Saints Earn Hard Fought OT Win Over Pratt The Seward County Saints were playing for pride Wednesday night as they took on fellow 3-14 Pratt in the Greenhouse on Hispanic Heritage Night. After trailing by two at the half, the Saints came back and knotted the score at the end of regulation before outscoring the Beavers 12-7 in the overtime period to snap a six game losing streak with a 93-88 victory.

    Undefeated Dragons Too Much For Saints Playing without the leading scorer in the Jayhawk Conference in Kevin Sims and against the 2nd ranked team in the country, the Hutchinson Blue Dragons, the Seward County Saints had their hands full Wednesday night in the Hutchinson Sports Arena and while the Saints hung with the Dragons for a portion of the first half, in the end, Hutchinson was too much for the guys in green in an 88-65 final that drops Seward to 6-12 on the year.

    Offensive Woes Cost Saints in Loss to Neosho On paper, the Seward County Saints matchup looked favorable Saturday night in the Greenhouse against the Neosho County Panthers. The Saints, averaging over 82 points per game on the season going up against a Panther squad that had given up 80 or more in seven straight games. The projected outcome couldn’t have been further from the truth however as Seward shot under 29% on the night and managed just 68 points in a 72-68 loss to the Panthers to drop the Saints to 2-7 heading into the Christmas Break.

Well, suppose then the opposite is the case and that is what the Seward County Saints endured Wednesday night in the Power Plant in El Dorado as they took on the Butler Grizzlies in Jayhawk Conference action. Seward found themselves in an 11-0 hole before they scored their first basket and gave up 50 plus points in each half as they were steamrolled by the Grizzlies 103-65 to fall to 0-2 in conference play on the year.

    Saints Rebound For First Win of 2016-2017 Possibly the worst part about the Seward County Saints double overtime loss to Sunrise Christian Tuesday night was the fact that less than 24 hours later, the guys in green had to lace them up again as they took on Fort Carson Army Base in the second of a back to back Wednesday night in the Greenhouse. While Seward was understandably slow on their feet most of the night, the Saints came up big when they needed to, erasing a late Gorilla lead to collect a 90-73 win to earn their first victory of the 2016-2017 season.
