  • 34 Student-Athletes Receive NJCAA Academic Student Athlete Awards

    For the sixth consecutive year, the Seward County athletic department has seen an increase in the number of student-athletes receiving the NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Award, as 34 Saints and Lady Saints qualified for the 2017-18 school year, topping last years record of 28.
  • Spring Semester Ends with Academic Awards

    For a second straight semester, the Seward County student-athletes achieved a cumulative GPA of over 3.20 as 78 Saints and Lady Saints were named to the Spring Athletic Director Honor Roll.
  • Hernandez to Participate in NJCAA All-Star Weekend

    For the tenth straight year, the Seward County Lady Saints will be represented at the NJCAA All-Star Weekend in Georgia as upcoming sophomore Lexi Hernandez has accepted the invitation to the nation’s top showcase’s in junior college women’s basketball.
  • Austin Mefford Named Eighth Head Coach in Lady Saints History

    Seward County Community College Director of Athletics Roy Allen announced today that Austin Mefford will be the eighth head coach for the Lady Saints basketball program.  An introductory press conference will be held Monday, May 7 at 10:00 a.m. in the All-American Room on the Seward County campus.
  • Mounsey Named First Team All-American

    The postseason awards continue to pour in for the Lady Saints basketball team after finishing a season that saw a Jayhawk and Region VI Championship en route to a top five finish at the NJCAA National Tournament.  Two-Time All-Conference and All-Region VI sophomore Mollie Mounsey can now add two-time First-Team All-American to her resume after being named to the prestigious list on Wednesday afternoon.
  • Toby Wynn To Take Over at Emporia State After 13 Seasons at Seward County

    The second winningest coach in Lady Saints history will be coaching elsewhere next season as current Seward County head coach Toby Wynn has accepted the head coaching position at Emporia State to coach the Lady Hornets.

    Though basketball season may be over, two Lady Saints are still being recognized as Mollie Mounsey and Sylvia Veloso were named to the NJCAA Region VI 1st Team on Monday after leading Seward to both a regular season conference title and the first Region VI Championship since 2007.
  • Lady Saints fall to Gulf Coast State in Quarterfinals; Finish 5th in Country

    For the second straight year the Seward County women’s basketball team’s season ended at the hands of Gulf Coast State in the Quarterfinals of the NJCAA National Tournament.  The Commodores defeated the Lady Saints 79-65 inside the Rip Griffin Center Thursday night.

    The Rip Griffin Center was packed with Lady Saint faithful Tuesday night, cheering No. 7 Seward County on to an 88-81 victory over the No. 23 South Georgia Tech Lady Jets in the second round of the NJCAA National Tournament.
  • Mounsey and Veloso Selected to All-Jayhawk 1st Team

    A day after winning the Region VI Tournament, two Seward County women's basketball players have won league honors as Mollie Mounsey and Silvia Veloso have been named to the 1st Team All-Conference for the Jayhawk Conference. Mounsey was also named the Most Valuable Player for the conference.
  • Lady Saints Punch Ticket To Lubbock With Region VI Championship

    Third time is the charm for the Lady Saints. After reaching the Region VI Finals the previous two years, the Seward County women’s basketball team captured the championship Wednesday night, beating the Independence Pirates 59-47. Seward also punched their ticket to Lubbock, Texas for the NJCAA National Tournament with the win.

    For the third consecutive year, the Seward County women’s basketball team will be in the Region VI Championship game after defeating Cowley 67-59 in the semifinals Tuesday evening.
  • Covane's Career-High Lifts Lady Saints Past Red Ravens In Region VI Tournament

    It was another day in the office the Seward County Lady Saints as they blew past the Coffeyville Red Ravens in the quarterfinals of the Region VI Tournament, 103-64.  Five Lady Saints came away in double-figures, led by Vilma Covane’s career-high 20 points.
  • Lady Saints Finish Regular Season With Blowout Win

    The No. 10 Seward County women’s basketball team ended the regular season with a blowout win against rival Garden City, 75-53 in Garden City.  In the win, Mollie Mounsey tied Seward County Hall of Famer Kim Ortega for third place on the all-time scoring list.
  • No. 10 Lady Saints Capture Jayhawk Championship on Sophomore Night

    It was sophomore night in the Greenhouse Saturday night, and what better way to cap off their careers with Seward County than by clinching the Jayhawk Conference Championship outright in front of their home crowd, as the No. 10 Lady Saints knocked off Dodge City 98-39. 
  • Lady Saints Defeat Trojans On Record Night

    One month ago, the No. 10 Seward County women’s basketball team set a school record for largest margin of victory over a Jayhawk opponent in school history.  That record stood just 56 days before the Lady Saints broke it, against the same team, defeating the Colby Trojans by an 82-point margin, 130-48. In two games against the Trojans, Seward has won by an average of 80 points.
  • Lady Saints Fall In Overtime In Indy

    A late run by the Independence Pirates was too much too overcome for the No. 6 Seward County women’s basketball team, falling in overtime, 80-73, and failing to clinch the No. 1 seed in the Region VI Tournament.
  • Mounsey Moves Into Top 5 On All-Time Scoring In Win Over Neosho

    It was another runaway victory for the No. 6 Seward County women’s basketball team, as they defeated Neosho County 77-52 inside the Greenhouse on Wednesday night.  Sophomore Mollie Mounsey came away with 24 points in the game, pushing her into the Top 5 on the all-time scoring list for the Lady Saints.  Mounsey currently has the fourth most points in Seward County history with 1,176 career points.
  • Lady Saints Continue Their Hot Hand To Win 16th Straight

    The Seward County women’s basketball team continued their hot hand, winning their 16th in a row, defeating the Allen Red Devils 86-46 Saturday in Iola.

  • No. 8 Lady Saints Win Second Revenge Game

    Only suffering from two loses on the season, the No. 8 Seward County women’s basketball team has now enacted revenge on both teams, defeating Coffeyville 93-56 Wednesday night inside the Greenhouse.  In their two revenge games, the Lady Saints have beat their opponents (Barton and Coffeyville) by an average of 36 points.

    Struggling to find a  game sponsor for Wednesday’s basketball games against Coffeyville during a busy 18  game home schedule, the Saints Athletics Department had a savior walk through the doors of the Greenhouse last week as a member of the Liberal community stepped to the plate to personally sponsor the game.
  • No. 10 Lady Saints Earn Important Win In Arkansas City

    It was a battle of top two Jayhawk teams in Arkansas City on Saturday, with the No. 10 Seward County women’s basketball team defeating the No. 22 Cowley Lady Tigers 70-58. The win gave the Lady Saints a two-game lead over Cowley in the standings.
  • Seward County Athletics Announces 2018 Hall of Fame Class

    Seward County Director of Athletics Roy Allen has announced that Seward County will welcome Kelby Tomlinson and Tracy Wynn to its Athletics Hall of Fame.  Celebrating the 7th induction ceremony, this year’s class of 2018 brings the current roster of Hall of Fame inductees to 18 members and one team. Volleyball player Joy Okpa also received enough votes to be inducted, but will wait to join the 2019 class so she can attend the ceremony.
  • Lady Saints Capture Win Number 20

    The No. 10 Seward County Lady Saints won in blow out fashion on the road in the Beaver Dome, defeating the Pratt Beavers 97-48.  The win was the 51st straight in the series against Pratt and 13th straight win on the season.

    The number one Jayhawk Conference offense had to utilize their defense to pick up a win against Cloud County, as the No. 12 Seward County women’s basketball team defeated the Thunderbirds 69-52 inside the Greenhouse on Wednesday night.
  • No. 13 Lady Saints Pick Up 10th Straight Win in El Dorado
    January 20, 2018
    The No. 13 Seward County Lady Saints pulled out a victory against the Butler Grizzlies on Saturday (Jan. 20) on the backs of Lexi Hernandez and Mollie Mounsey, both of whom hit six three-pointers. The win pushed the Lady Saints win streak to 10.
  • No. 13 Lady Saints Take Down Blue Dragons in Hutch
    January 17, 2018
    The No. 13 Seward County Lady Saints basketball team came away with a victory over the No. 17 Hutchinson Blue Dragons in the Hutchinson Sports Arena for the first time since 2009, winning 62-49 Wednesday night. Seward broke a three-way tie for first place in the Jayhawk Conference and are still tied with Cowley.
