Seward County competed at Collin College for the final Fall Season tournament

PLANO, Tex. - Seward County Community College tennis program competed in their final fall tournament at Collin College in Plano, Texas. The Saints had a very strong showing with nine individuals in the singles flight and three doubles teams making it to their championship matches.

For the singles draw Seward County had nine individuals make it to their championship match in seven flights. In the first flight, Kyllian Savary and Luciano Fisicaro won their first two matches to make it to the championship match but did not play their final match. In the second draw, Karlo Krolo made it to the championship match but lost 7-5, 2-2 due to retirement. Juan "Mauri" Gonzalez competed in the third flight and lost in the first round in three sets but bounced back with a victory in the backside of the draw. Gonzalez lost in the consolation match 6-2, 6-4.

In the fourth flight, Martins Abamu won all three of his matches and won the championship match 6-3, 6-1. Enzo Frequelin and Seb Holden won their first two matches and faced off in the championship match of the fifth flight but they did not play the match. Franco Vecchia lost in the consolation match of flight six. Lucas Gonzalez went on to win the flight with a 6-1, 3-6, 10-8 thriller. Noah Burton and Ugo Fiorito competed in the finals of the seventh flight and Fiorito won the match 6-1, 6-3 over his teammate. 

On the doubles side of the tournament, the Saints looked to continue their dominance. In the first flight Martins Abamu, Kyllian Savary won their first two matches and faced teammates Krolo and Fisicaro in the championship match. Karlo and Fisicaro won the final match 8-5. The second flight had Mauri Gonzalez, Franco Vecchia won their first match but fell in the second round to compete in the third-place match. Gonzalez and Vecchia won 8-1 to claim third place in the flight.

Noah Burton and Lucas Gonzalez won their first-round match in the third flight but lost their next two matches. Frequelin and Jonas Mathiasen won their first two matches to go to the championship match but lost 5-1 due to retirement. In the fourth and final flight, Ugo Fiorito and Seb Holden split their matches with a 2-8 loss to Souther Oklahoma and an 8-4 win against A&M Texarkana.

Seward County will compete at the ITA National Tournament in Rome, GA with Krolo and Fisicaro in the doubles draw starting on Thursday, October 14th.
