National Tournament Preview: Saints receive all byes for Day 1
TYLER, Tex. - Seward County Community College will participate in the 2022 National Tennis Tournament in Tyler Texas starting on Monday, May 16th and championship day will be Friday, May 20th. The Saints finished the regular season second in the NJCAA ITA Coaches poll and finished second in the Region VI Tournament behind the No. 1 ranked Cowley College.
Seward County received first-round byes in every draw and will have a day to prepare for the second-round matches that will begin on Tuesday, May 17th. Click the link for the complete 2022 NJCAA draws.
Luciano Fisicaro enters the number one singles draw as the three seed and will compete Tuesday at 8 AM CT against the winner of Hinds CC and Lewis & Clark CC. In the number two draw, Luke Quaynor will be the fourth seed and will play the winner of Sauk Valley CC and Meridian CC on May 17th at 8 AM CT.
The Saints' Kylian Savary received the number one seed in the number three draw and will face the winner of Hartford CC and Mississippi Gulf Coast on Tuesday at 9:15 AM CT. In the number four singles draw Juan "Mauri" Gonzalez is the fourth seed and will take on Iowa Central or Paradise Valley on May 17th at 9:15 AM CT.
Karlo Krolo enters the number five singles draw as the three seed and will take on the winner of Sauk Valley CC or East Central CC on Tuesday at 10:30 AM CT. Martins Abamu received the second seed in the number six singles draw and will face the winner of Wallace State CC or Mississippi Gulf Coast at 10:30 AM CT on May 17th.
In doubles, the Saints' Krolo and Fisicaro will compete as the number one seed in the number one doubles draw. They will face the winner of Mississippi Gulf Coast or Hartford at noon on Tuesday, May 17th. In the second doubles, draw Savary and Quaynor will be the fourth seed and will face the winner of College of Lake County or Wallace State at noon on May 17th. Franco Vecchia and Gonzalez enter the number 3 doubles draw as the second seed and will take on the winner of Lewis & Clark or Mississippi Gulf Coast AT 1:15 PM CT on Tuesday.
The Saints finished third last year at the NJCAA National Tournament in Plano, Texas last spring and will look to build on their success from a year ago.
