Saints Esports Weekly Recap (April 7) and Playoff Preview

Results from Monday 04-07-25
Marvel Rivals
The Saints Green team (Landon Davis, Nicolas Benson, Marcos Montoya, Josef Peppa, Benjamin Washburn, and Akele Powdrill) took on Missouri State University West Plains in a best of 5 matchup. The MSU crew got up quickly, winning the first two rounds. The Saints rallied back to win the third but ended up falling on the night in the 4th set. They ended the night 1 - 3. Their final record for the season was 2 - 4.
The Saints Black team (Eli Hackett, Edward Rios, Scarlett Phan, Ernest Paloma, Angel Roberts, and Christian Don Juan) ran afoul of the University of South Carolina Sumter team for the second week in a row. The USC dominated the Saints, allowing no points on the night. The Black team lost 0 - 3. They end the season with an 0 - 5 record.
Results from Tuesday 04-08-25
Smash Brothers
Angel Roberts fought a tough battle against SUNY Jefferson in a best of 7 matchup. Unfortunately, the Jefferson player got up early and stayed there. Roberts fell 0 - 4. He ends the season with a 2 - 3 record.
Alexis Saustegui dominated his opponent from Northwestern College, pummeling him in 4 - 0 in straight rounds. Saustegui ends his season with a 3 - 3 record.
Fortnite
The Saints Silver team (Luis Ortiz, Juan Pablo Chacon) faced off against Connors State in their last regular season game. Unfortunately, they weren't able to find as many frags as the CSC crew and fell on the night 0 - 2. Their record is 3 - 3 heading into playoffs.
The Saints Green team (Henry Perez, Osiel Ventura) had a tough time against Marshalltown as well. They lost on the night 0 - 2 as well. They carry a record of 5 - 1 heading into the playoffs.
Results from Wednesday 04-09-25
Madden NFL:
Akele Powdrill squared off against Highland Community College on the virtual gridiron in a pair of close games. Powdrill managed to stay on top all night, winning the match up 2 - 0. He takes a record of 5 - 1 into the playoffs next week.
Landon Davis had a tough time against Eastern Georgia State College. Davis was unable to punch through the EGSC defense. He fell on the night 0 - 2. His record is 2 - 4 going into playoffs.
Jarrett Hogg also had a couple of close games against Lakeland Community College. Hogg was able to stay on top, barely, to squeak out a win against the Lakers player. His record is 3 - 3 going into the spring playoffs.
Results from Thursday 04-10-25
Mario Kart:
Priscilla Davis had a back and forth battle against Marshalltown, going the full distance and playing all 7 games. Davis eventually took out her opponent, winning 4 - 3. Her record is 4 - 2 heading into playoffs.
Landon Davis had an easier time against the player from SW Wisconsin Tech. Davis took out the SWWT racer in four straight, winning 4 - 0. He takes his record of 4 - 2 into the playoffs as well.
Alexis Saustegui was up against Highland Community College for his set. Saustegui handily put down his opponent 4 - 1. He heads into the playoffs with a record of 5 - 1.
Valorant:
The Valorant squad (Julienne Salazar, Marcos Montoya, Daniel Nguyen, Eli Hackett, and Angel Alba) went against Moberly Area Community College in a best of 3 set. The first game was back and forth until MACC had a run that costs the Saints the match. The second game was all MACC. The Saints fell 0 - 2. They end the season with a 2 - 4 record.

The Saints R6 Green team (Jarret Hogg, Edward Rios, Ernest Paloma, Nicolas Benson and Landon Davis) received a bye week on the last night of competition.

Fortnite:
The Saints Green team (Henry Perez, Osiel Ventura) will be taking on Connors State in the first round of playoffs on Tuesday, April 15th at 5:30
The Saints Silver team (Juan Pablo Chacon, Luis Ortiz) received a bye for the first round of the playoffs. They will face the winner of the round 1 matchup between Walters State College and Catawba Valley Community College at 7:30 on Tuesday, April 15th.
Madden:
Landon Davis will be facing off against Crowder College on April 16th at 5:30pm.
Akele Powdrill is up against Lakeland Community College on April 16th at 5:30pm.
Jarrett Hogg will battle it out with Pensacola State College on April 16th at 5:30pm
Mario Kart:
Priscilla Davis starts against Rose State College, April 17th at 5:30
Landon Davis races against State Fair College April 17th at 5:30
Edward Rios is up against State Tech April 17th at 5:30
Bret Lyon faces off against Marshalltown April 17th at 5:30
Alexis Saustegui puts the pedal down against Herkimer College April 17th at 5:30
