Saints Defeat Friends JV on Kids Day

LIBERAL, Kan. – Seward men's basketball hosted fifth graders from across USD 480 on Wednesday morning at The Greenhouse and they got the chance to see the Saints win their home opener, 107-53, over Friends University's JV squad.

Seward moves to 3-0 on the young season with the win. It is the only game against a non-NJCAA school that Seward will play this season.

The Saints never trailed in the win, leading by as much as 56 and ultimately winning by 54.

Awit Mamer and Antonio Williams Jr. each paced the Saints with 15 points off the bench. Williams also pulled down seven rebounds.

Lyna Brooks Jr. finished with 13 points shooting 3-5 from distance while Brooks Powers had four points, seven rebounds and seven assists off the bench.

The Saints outscored the Falcons 48-6 in the paint. Seward forced 32 turnovers scoring 44 points off the takeaways. As a team, Seward shot 56.3% (40-71) from the field and 43.8% (13-23) from three while holdin Friends to 33.9% shooting from the field.

Seward's next action comes on Tuesday, Nov. 11th, at 5:30 p.m. when they host Frank Phillips College at The Greenhouse in a non-conference matchup . The game will be streamed on the Seward County Sports Network and Brock Kappelmann's call can be heard on Talk Radio 1270/92.3 KSCB.
