Lujan Named KJCCC West Pitcher of the Week

Seward baseball sophomore right-handed pitcher Michael Lujan was named the KJCCC West Week 4 Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Lujan, a Grand Prairie, Texas, native, helped Seward to a win in game three of a four-game series with Vernon College with a strong start on the mound. Lujan tossed 6.0 scoreless innings, picking up the win for the Saints after striking out nine and scattering five hits and one walk throughout his start.

Lujan and relief pitcher Cooper Turner helped shut the Chaparrals out in game three as Seward won 9-0.

He is the first Seward baseball student-athlete to win a weekly award this season.

The Saints return to action this weekend, hosting Otero in a four-game series, beginning with a doubleheader on Friday at 1 p.m.
