Forgettable Game Two for Seward Baseball
LIBERAL, Kan. – The Seward County baseball team lost 29-2 in a seven-inning run rule to Coffeyville on Friday afternoon in game two of the best-of-three series in the opening round of the Plains District Tournament at Brent Gould Field.
Seward (24-26) and Coffeyville (27-29) have now each won one game and will play the series decider on Saturday at 1 p.m. Seward won game one 10-8 on Thursday.
It was a forgettable afternoon for the Seward pitching staff. They surrendered 25 earned runs on 17 hits while walking 13 batters and hitting five.
Coffeyville plated two in the top of the first but the Saints answered with a sacrifice fly from Hayden Ramage to make it 2-1.
The Red Ravens plated seven runs in the second and 16 runs in the sixth to cruise to the win.
Game three is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday.
