#23 Barton
LIBERAL, Kan. – A solo home run off the bat of sophomore first baseman Blaine Chancy on the first pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Seward Saints a 2-1 walk off win over the No. 23-ranked Barton Cougars on Saturday afternoon at Brent Gould Field.
The win gave the Saints (9-14, 3-1 KJCCC) the 3-1 series win over the Cougars (15-5, 1-3) as Seward fell 9-4 in game four following the win.
Seward returns to midweek action on Tuesday at 2 p.m. as they host Lamar Community College.
Game 1: Seward 2, Barton 1
Barton outhit Seward 7-4 in the game, but timely hits from the Saints, as well as strong outings on the mound, helped the Saints to the win.
Cosme Vera Jr. had the start for Seward and threw 4.2 innings, allowing a lone run on four hits while striking out four and walking one. Cooper Turner (W, 2-0) came on in relief and got the final out of the fifth inning and proceeded to close out the game throwing 2.1 scoreless innings, striking out three and walking two.
Chancy finished 2-3 for Seward with the RBI. He was the lone Saint with multiple hits. Jacob Urias drove home Seward's first run in the fifth to tie the game 1-1 on an RBI single.

Brian Justice (L, 2-2) threw all 6.0 innings for Barton on the mound.
Game 2: Barton 9, Seward 4
The Saints got out to a 4-1 lead in game four but saw Barton outscore them 8-0 over the final six innings to salvage a game in the series as Seward fell 9-4.
Seward outhit Barton 11-9 in the game but only plated two runs a piece in the second and third innings.
Jhett Huffman went 2-4 at the plate, Khale Leblanc was 3-4 with two RBI.
Beau Land (L, 1-2) was hit with the loss throwing 5.1 innings allowing five earned runs with five strikeouts and two walks. Cross Durham threw a scoreless ninth striking out two.
