Baseball Pummels Lamar in Midweek Action
LIBERAL, Kan. – Seward baseball took down Lamar Community College 24-6 in seven innings on Tuesday afternoon at Brent Gould Field.
Seward (10-14) outhit Lamar (10-12) 19-11 in the game. The Saints set the tone early. After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first, the Saints plated 11 runs in the bottom of the first. They used a six-run fourth and a four-run sixth to add to the total as 11 different Saints recorded a hit.
David Brabb led the way going 3-3 with five runs driven in and four runs scored. He was one of four Saints to hit a home run along with Blaine Chancy, Jhett Huffman and Jorge Beitia Tunon. Beitia Tunon was 3-5 with four RBI and three runs scored.
Seward threw four pitchers, with Sarvesh Dhanasekar earning the start, throwing 3.0 innings, allowing three runs on six hits, with a strikeout. Cross Durham was the lone Saint to not allow a run in relief, striking out two in the seventh.
The Saints are now 2-1 vs. Lamar this season after previously splitting a doubleheader in Lamar on Feb. 1st in the season opener
Seward returns to action on Friday at 1 p.m. as they travel to El Reno, Okla., to kick off a four-game series at Redlands Community College.
