COLBY, Kan. – The bats were on display on Saturday afternoon in Colby as the Trojans and Saints split a pair of games, which also resulted in a four-game split of the series.
The Saints lost 15-11 in game three and won 14-10 in game four.
Seward (19-23, 11-5 KJCCC) is now tied for third in the KJCCC West standings with Butler. Colby sits at 5-15 in league play.
Seward opens a conference series with Dodge City on the road on Thursday, first pitch at noon.
Game 1: Colby 15, Seward 11 (7 Inn.)
Colby outhit Seward 18-11 in the game one win.
Seward starter Ashton Creighton (L, 2-2) allowed eight runs on 10 hits in 3.0 innings of work. Cooper Turner tossed the final 3.0 innings allowing six earned runs on eight hits.
The Saints fell behind 2-0 in the second but used a four-run third to take a brief 4-2 lead. Colby then scored six runs in the third and six more in the fifth on the way to the win.
Eight different Saints recorded a hit with Hayden Ramage and David Brabb driving in two runs a piece.
Game 2: Seward 14, Colby 10 (9 Inn.)
Seward trailed 6-1 after five innings in game one.
They cut into the lead with four runs in the sixth but Colby instantly answered back with three runs of their own taking a 9-5 lead in the sixth. The Trojans added a lone run in the seventh to go ahead 10-5.
The Saints outscored Colby 9-0 over the final two innings to secure the 14-10 win. Seward used six runs in the eighth and three in the ninth to force a series split.
Isai Santaella homered twice and drove in three runs. Grant Cox hit a late three-run home run while Emry Cairns, Mason Gilbert, Juan Alvarez, and Blaine Chancy all drove in two runs each.
Trajan Chavez (W, 2-0) earned the win, pitching the final 3.0 innings, allowing no runs on one hit, striking out four and walking one. Beau Lang got the start throwing 4.1 innings with three earned runs on six hits striking out four.
Colby went through five pitchers and they outhit Seward 13-12.
