LIBERAL, Kan. — Seward County Community College softball head coach Kimber Cortemelia has announced the hiring of Kadyn Trochim as the Saints new assistant coach.

Trochim comes to Seward after wrapping up a standout playing career at Pittsburg State, where she earned NFCA and D2CCA All-America honors following the 2026 season.

Trochim appeared in 219 games across four seasons with the Gorillas and finished as a career .337 hitter. She ranks among Pittsburg State's career leaders in several categories, including hits with 197, tied for 10th; doubles with 40, tied for seventh; RBIs with 163, sixth; and walks with 91, second.

Her final season was her best at Pittsburg State, as she posted a .446/.547/.697 slash line with a 1.244 OPS. She earned All-MIAA, All-Region and All-America honors.

Before Pittsburg State, Trochim spent two seasons at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas, where she was a two-time NJCAA All-Academic Team selection.

Trochim graduated from Waco Midway High School, where she was a three-time all-district honoree and helped lead the Panthers to three district titles.

Trochim also served as a graduate assistant in the athletic department at Pittsburg State from 2023-25. She was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and worked as a teaching assistant in the Kelce College of Business.

Athletics runs strong in the Trochim family. Her mother, Shawn, is the athletic director at McLennan and previously served as a women's basketball coach at the school. She also played women's basketball at McLennan before continuing her career at Texas A&M. Her father, Ed, is an assistant athletic director at Waco ISD and previously coached high school baseball and softball. Trochim's sister, Rhein Carmichael, is an assistant coach for Temple College softball in Texas. The Leopards finished as the NJCAA Division I national runners-up this season.

Trochim earned a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in business administration from Pittsburg State.
