LIBERAL, Kan. – The Seward softball team honored its 2026 sophomores on Friday afternoon at French Family Field prior to the doubleheader vs. Dodge City.
The Saints recognized Jahlisa Klear, Grace Horne, Emily Lane, Taryn Golden, and Kaitlyn Gonzales in a pregame ceremony in the sophomores' final home games.
Seward fell 6-4 in game one and 10-2 in game two to drop to 17-29 overall and 9-19 in league play. Dodge City moves to 37-15 and 19-7 in KJCCC action.
Seward travels to Garden City on Wednesday for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
Game 1: Dodge City 6, Seward 4 (7 Inn.)
The Saints battled in game one, taking a 4-2 lead in the third before Dodge City outscored them 4-0 over the final four innings to escape with the win.
Aaliyah Arredondo (L, 5-8) threw all 7.0 innings, allowing six runs on 11 hits with three strikeouts and three walks.
Dodge plated two runs in the top of the first but the Saints immediately answered with three in the bottom half. Amithys Perez and Jewell Carleton had sacrifice flys and Emily Lane had a hit by pitch RBI.
An Emily Lane RBI groundout in the third made it 4-2.
Kate Perez and Jahlisa Klear each had two hits while Lane drove in two runs. Loren Sewat was 3-4 at the plate for Dodge while Jordyn Boxberger (W, 9-6) picked up the win tossing 5.1 innings allowing four runs.
Game 2: Dodge City 10, Seward 2 (7 Inn.)
Seward was held to just four hits in game two as Dodge City got out to a 5-0 lead before the Saints scored.
Amithys Perez drove in the only two runs of the game for Seward on a two-run single. Perez was 2-4.
Grace Horne (L, 8-12) suffered the loss in the circle, allowing four earned runs in 4.2 innings, walking five.
Riley Moore paced Dodge offensively going 3-4 with two RBI. Karli George (W, 16-4) threw 4.2 innings striking out and walking seven.
