Softball Takes on 2 Top 10 Squads in Texas

LIBERAL, Kan. – Seward softball traveled down to Texas for games at No. 9 Trinity Valley and No. 7 Paris JC, two 2025 NJCAA Division 1 World Series participants, dropping all four games over the weekend.

Seward sits at 6-8 overall and travels to McCook, Neb., to take on 13th-ranked McCook CC on Tuesday. It will mark the third nationally ranked team Seward has taken on thus far in the regular season.

Friday saw Seward travel to Athens, Texas, to face off with Trinity Valley. Seward fell 28-0 in game one and 13-2 in game two, both five-inning affairs. Freshman Taylor Harding recorded Seward's lone hit in game one. Grace Horne was tagged with the loss in the circle.

The Saints plated two runs with Amithys Perez driving in both off a double in the fifth of game two. Liberty Sharman suffered the loss in the circle tossing all 4.0 innings.

Seward traveled to Paris, Texas, on Saturday afternoon. They fell 10-1 in game one. The Saints trailed just 2-0 entering the third but the Dragons plated eight runs in the bottom of the third to pull away. Four Saints recorded a hit with Perez driving in the run. Horne started and threw 3.0 innings, allowing 10 runs. Kaitlyn Gonzales threw a scoreless, hitless fourth.

Paris won game two of the doubleheader, 10-2. The Dragons plated five unearned runs in the first inning and used five more in the fourth to secure the win. Jewell Carleton and Malaya Garcia each drove in a run for Seward in the loss. Sharman threw all 4.0 innings allowing five earned runs on six hits.
