ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. — Seward County women's soccer allowed three first half goals as they fell 3-0 to the seventh ranked Cowley Tigers on Wednesday evening at the Mark A. Phillips Soccer Track & Field/Soccer Complex.
The Tigers struck quickly, finding the net just one minute in to take a 1-0 lead. Cowley then used goals in the 21st minute and the 40th minute to build out a 3-0 lead heading to halftime.
The Saints finished with seven shots in the game, four on goal, but were outshot 32-7. The Saints defense turned things around in the second half as they did not allow a goal but the offense was unable to convert.
Goalkeeper Caroline Benck finished with 14 saves in the match, a career-high, and her second double digit save output of the season.
Seward drops to 4-6-0 overall and 3-6-0 in KJCCC play, while Cowley remains unbeaten at 7-0-3 and 7-0-2 in the league. Seward has now dropped three consecutive matches, their longest losing skid of the season.
The road trip continues for Seward as they travel to Coffeyville on Saturday for a 2 p.m. match.
