HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Seward County women's soccer team hit the road for the first time in conference play on Saturday afternoon, falling 5-2 to the 13th ranked Hutchinson Blue Dragona at the Salthawk Sports Complex.
Seward (3-2-0, 2-2-0 KJCCC) saw Hutchinson (5-1-0, 2-1-0) net three first half goals and outshoot the Saints 24-3 in the game.
Hutch got the scoring started in the 14th minute but the Saints quickly answered as sophomore Meredith Rosas scored with an assist from Milca Raudales to tie the game at 1-1. The Blue Dragons added two more goals in the half with Isabell Van Fleet assisting on one and scoring another.
After Hutch made it 4-1 early in the second half, Seward cut it to a two-goal deficit on a Raudales goal, her first of the season, as she put in a ball off a Nicole Catalan corner kick. It was as close as the Saints would get.
Seward will look to regroup before hosting Dodge City on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Redskin Field.
