EL DORADO, Kan. – Seward County women's soccer saw its 2025 season come to a close in the Region 6 Quarterfinal round on Friday afternoon, falling 3-0 to Butler at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.
The sixth seeded Lady Saints and third seeded Grizzlies had played just eight days before, a 4-0 Grizzly win at Redskin Field, but the two teams split the meetings in the regular season with Seward winning 1-0 in El Dorado on Sept. 27th. The playoff matchup served as the rubber match between the two teams.
Butler got the scoring started in the 12th minute as London Ingram put in an unassisted goal to make it 1-0. The Seward defense held strong the rest of the half and the game went to halftime at 1-0. Seward was outshot 7-1 in the half.
The second half saw the Grizzlies strike twice within two minutes, one just 30 seconds into the half off a free kick and another roughly two minutes later. Butler outshot Seward 13-3 in the half and 20-3 for the game. The Grizzlies had five corner kicks while Seward had none.
Lady Saint goalkeeper Caroline Benck finished with seven saves and the three goals allowed.
Seward finishes 5-10-1 overall and 4-9-1, their best marks in the three-year history of the program. Butler moves on to the semifinal round where they will take on two-seed Hutchinson.
It marks the second consecutive season that Seward's season has ended while playing at Butler in the Region 6 Quarterfinals after losing 4-0 last year on Nov. 1.
