Hutchinson Tops Seward at The Greenhouse
LIBERAL, Kan. – Seward County volleyball dropped a match, 3-1 (26-28, 24-26, 25-17, 22-25), to Hutchinson on Saturday afternoon in The Greenhouse.
Seward (9-16, 6-8 KJCCC) lost the first two sets to the Blue Dragons (14-15, 6-8) in extra points setting them behind 2-0 in the match. Seward won set three 25-17 but fell 25-22 in set four.
Seward led 24-22 in set one but Hutchinson stormed back to tie the set 24-24. Seward took a lead at 25-24 and 26-25 but Hutchinson ended the set on a 3-0 run.
The Lady Saints led 23-20 in set two but saw Hutchinson outscore them 6-1 down the stretch to steal the set.
Seward led start to finish in set three to get on the board making it 2-1.
Set four was tight down the stretch with Seward leading 20-19 late but Hutchinson edged Seward out taking the match 25-22.
Seward hit .174 to Hutchinson's .168. Ana Nikolic led the Lady Saints with 16 kills on .233 hitting finishing with a double-double adding 10 digs. Mariana Silva added 14 kills on .133 hitting, Annalisa Volpatti finished with nine kills on .467 hitting also adding four blocks while Maja Kobielska had 27 assists.
The Lady Saints host nationally ranked Barton at home on Monday evening for sophomore day, first serve slated after sophomore recognitions which begin at 6:30.
