Lady Saints Take a Set From No. 6 Barton on Sophomore Night
LIBERAL, Kan. – Seward volleyball honored its sophomores on Monday evening before falling to the sixth ranked Barton Cougars, 3-1 (14-25, 25-22, 14-24, 13-25), at The Greenhouse.
Seward (9-17, 6-9 KJCCC) honored it six sophomores in a pregame ceremony. The six sophomores that played their last home match in The Greenhouse were Milana Vukov, Mina Milivojevic, Ana Nikolic, Nicolly Chaves, Mariana Silva and Maria Eduarda Parise.
The Cougars (26-5, 13-1) were held to their third lowest hitting percentage (.149) of the season by the Saints, but Seward managed to hit just .020 in the loss.
Silva led the attack for the Lady Saints with 15 kills on .117 hitting also adding 11 digs while Nikolic was the other Lady Saint in double figures with 12 kills to go with 12 digs. Milivojevic led Seward with 17 digs and Maja Kobielska finished with 33 assists.
The Lady Saints had nine service errors to Barton's three. The Cougars were led by Caroliny Cristiny's 11 kills on .257 hitting. Aubrey Olander finished with seven blocks.
The Lady Saints turn their attention to Saturday as their final regular season match is at Dodge City at 6:30 p.m. from the Student Activity Center.
