Arredondo Named KJCCC Division 1 Pitcher of the Week
Freshman pitcher Aaliyah Arredondo earned Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division I Pitcher of the Week honors, the league announced Tuesday.
A native of Houston, Texas, Arredondo played a key role in a 3-1 week for the Saints, highlighted by a sweep of Fort Hays Tech Northwest and a road split at Pratt.
She made two starts in the circle, going 2-0 while not allowing an earned run across 9.0 innings pitched. Arredondo struck out seven and walked three, holding opponents to a .100 batting average while posting a 0.67 WHIP after allowing just three hits on the week.
In an 11-1 win over Fort Hays Tech Northwest on Wednesday, Arredondo tossed a five-inning complete game shutout, surrendering just one hit while striking out five without issuing a walk.
She followed that performance with another strong outing in a 9-0 win at Pratt on Friday, throwing 4.0 scoreless innings. Arredondo allowed two hits, struck out three, and walked two to secure her second scoreless appearance of the week.
On the season, Arredondo holds a 4-4 record with a 5.12 ERA.
The Saints return to action Wednesday as Hutchinson visits French Family Field. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
