Strong 2nd Quarter Pushes Lady Saints to Victory at Pratt

PRATT, Kan. – Trailing 21-16 after the first quarter, the Seward County Lady Saints used a 25-11 second quarter advantage to seize control and eventually win 71-62 over Pratt at the Beaver Dome on Wednesday.

Seward moves to 8-3 overall, 3-2 in league play with the win.

Avery Marchino led all scorers with 19 points also pulling down 16 rebounds as well as four steals and three assists. A'Neya Chambers poured in 17 points off the bench on 6-10 shooting while Kimora Faga had nine points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals. Destiny Alexander finished with 12 points and seven rebounds.

After the 25-11 second quarter outburst, Seward went to halftime with a 41-32 lead. Pratt trimmed the lead to 54-48 entering the fourth quarter but the Lady Saints kept them at bay and won 71-62.

Seward shot 38% (27-71) from the field, 25% (6-24) from three and 11-14 (78.6%) from the free throw line. They finished with 18 assists to 16 turnovers.

It marks Seward's 12th straight win over the Beavers.
