Lady Saints Win Big Over Fort Hays Tech Northwest

LIBERAL, Kan. – The Seward County Lady Saints defeated the Fort Hays Tech Northwest Tigers 69-43 on Saturday afternoon at The Greenhouse.

Seward is now 9-3 overall, 4-2 in league play having won their last two games. Fort Hays Tech remains winless (0-11, 0-5).

The game was tied 14-14 after a quarter but for a second consecutive game the Lady Saints turned up the heat in the second quarter outscoring the Tigers 25-7 to head to halftime with a 39-21 advantage, never looking back from there. Seward led by as much as 31 in the second half.

Seward outrebounded Tech 53-35 and finished with 20 assists to the Tigers seven. The Lady Saints were 20-25 (80%) from the free throw line compared to Tech's 5-7. Fort Hays shot 27.4% (17-62) from the floor while Seward was 22-63 (34.9%).

Destiny Alexander scored a career-high 20 points to go with 11 rebounds, the first double-double of her career. Avery Marchino finished with 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists. A'Neya Chambers added 14 points and seven rebounds off the bench.

Tech was led by Vitoria Fernandes' 18 points.
