Lady Saints Roll Over Cloud County at Home
LIBERAL, Kan. – The Seward County women got back in the win column on Wednesday evening in The Greenhouse as they defeated the Cloud County T-Birds 91-49.
Seward (14-5, 9-4 KJCCC) is now 7-1 at home and with the win, swept the T-Birds (8-10, 4-9) for the season.
Avery Marchino poured in 23 points to go with three rebounds, four steals and four assists to pace Seward. Au'Rayona Seals had a career-high 18 points to go with four steals, A'Neya Chambers had 13 points and six rebounds off the bench while Tyniah Smith had nine points and 11 rebounds off the bench as well. Destiny Alexander finished with seven points and nine rebounds.
Cloud County was led by Leila Washington's 21 points, six rebounds and five steals. Sofia Todorovic had 16 points and seven rebounds.
Seward outrebounded Cloud 52-38 while forcing 29 T-Bird turnovers to 21 of their own. The Lady Saints scored 40 points in the paint to Cloud's 26 and held Cloud to 27.6% shooting from the field and 10.5% from distance. Seward shot 42.1% from the field and knocked down 9-26 from three (34.6%).
The Lady Saints led by as much as 44 in the game. Cloud scored the first bucket and traded leads early with Seward but the Lady Saints went ahead 8-4 on a Seals three and never trailed again leading 22-10 after the quarter. The lead pushed to 20 at the half.
Every Lady Saint got in on the action with each playing at least four minutes.
Seward returns to action on Sunday when they travel to Colby to take on the Trojans, 3 p.m. tip.
