Lady Saints Head Coach Will Marchino Resigns

LIBERAL, Kan. – Seward County Community College head women's basketball coach Will Marchino has resigned his post to accept an assistant coaching position at the NCAA Division 1 level.

"I cannot thank President Bennett, Associate VP of Athletics Cody Cole, and the rest of the staff at SCCC for allowing me to lead this program for the past three years," said Marchino. "Seward and the community of Liberal has been tremendous for my family. I wouldn't have this next opportunity if it wasn't for our ELITE student-athletes. I can't thank them enough! This past year's team was a joy to lead. We are forever connected!"

Marchino recently completed his third season leading the Lady Saints, helping Seward to its second consecutive 20-win campaign. The Lady Saints finished fifth in the 13-team Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference this past season. Seward advanced to the second round of the NJCAA Region 6 Tournament all three seasons that Marchino was in charge. He leaves Liberal with a 57-39 overall record while coaching nine All-KJCCC honorees as well as a KJCCC Defensive Player of the Year (Ari Gordon, 2024-25) and a KJCCC Player of the Year (Avery Marchino, 2025-26). Marchino previously served as an assistant coach at SCCC from 2020-2022.

"I want to thank Coach Marchino for his time at Seward County," said Associate Vice President for Athletics Cody Cole. "His dedication to building and sustaining one of the premier programs at our level helped him rise to third all-time in wins in program history. Will and Amanda have built lasting relationships in Liberal and have become a valued part of our community. We wish Will, Amanda, and their daughter Kinsleigh all the best in their next chapter."

Seward County Community College will launch a search for the program's 11th head coach effective immediately.
