Darko Cohadarevic to be Inducted into Saints Hall of Fame
LIBERAL, Kan. – The Seward County Community College athletic department will add another member to the Saints Hall of Fame later this month, as former men's basketball All-American forward and current volunteer assistant coach Darko Cohadarevic is set to be enshrined on April 24 at the annual student-athlete banquet.
A native of Belgrade, Serbia, Cohadarevic played two seasons for the Saints (2006-07 and 2007-08). He earned Honorable Mention NJCAA All-American honors in 2008 as a sophomore, was named the Region VI Tournament MVP, and was a First Team All-KJCCC selection. He helped lead Seward to its then-fourth Region 6 title in 2008, along with a KJCCC West title, averaging 15.4 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Seward finished the 2008 season 32-6 overall under head coach Bryan Zollinger and the Saints had a record of 49-20 across Cohaderevic's two seasons.
Cohadarevic also helped guide the Saints to a third-place finish at the NJCAA Tournament and was selected to compete in the NJCAA Men's Basketball Coaches Association's Third Annual National All-Star Game in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was also a member of the NJCAA All-Tournament Team.
Following his time at Seward, Cohadarevic continued his career at Texas Tech, where he played two seasons (2008-09 and 2009-10). He appeared in 60 games for the Red Raiders, averaging 5.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per game over his two-year career in Lubbock.
After his collegiate career, Cohadarevic played professional basketball from 2010-18, competing on five continents and in more than 15 countries.
Cohadarevic's wife Jelena (formerly Simic), the head volleyball coach at SCCC, was inducted into the Saints Hall of Fame a year ago after her stellar playing career on the volleyball court in the green annd white.
